What Is Digital Marketing and
What Does It Mean to My Business?
What is the digital
marketing?
Digital Marketing Services in Lahore
is the use of digital technology to deliver your marketing messages and to
allow your customers to interact with your business.
Traditionally, marketing has consisted in sending your
messages to your customers. With technology, you can now talk to your customers
and deliver what they really want and what you do not want them to think they
want. There is often a big gap and digital marketing is what allows you to
communicate one-on-one with your clients and on a massive scale.
So, what areas does digital marketing cover?
For me, digital marketing includes:
Websites that include:
Positioning in search engines (SEO): be found in Google,
etc.
Pay per click (PPC): pay someone to find it on Google, etc.
Advertising: paying banners to attract visitors to your site
E-commerce: the ability to buy and sell products, services
and information through the Internet.
Consumer reviews: Consumer reviews are a powerful way to
attract consumers to your e-commerce site, as they facilitate the purchase
decision, since the reviews are of consumers who have purchased the product.
Entire companies are built around this concept, like Trip Advisor.
Blogs Personal websites with stories, expert opinions, etc.,
that you believe will help your readers, customers and interested parties.
Social media. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+,
, Xing, etc. These are web-based systems that allow you to connect and share
information such as ideas, links, photos, videos with like-minded people. They
can also generate income for your business and, therefore, can be routes to the
market for your business. They can be excellent ways to connect with people you
cannot reach by other means. Twitter can be a great source of publicly
available real-time information and has reported on major world events ahead of
the global press.
News from social
networks. DMT is by far the largest social networking news site.
PR online there are specific websites for press releases to
be available to the press. Prlog.org and helpareporter.com are examples.
Webinars / events: webinars are one to many seminars
distributed on the Internet. This allows you to present to a large number of
people regardless of location. The events are traditional meetings or
workshops, but they are marketed through social networks such as LinkedIn.
Email marketing: the sending of mass emails that you think
are relevant to the people to whom you send the message.
Lead Nurturing: This is where a potential customer gives you
their email address in exchange for something free. In general, it is an
electronic book (in pdf format), a video, and an e-mail course on how to do
something.
Viral marketing: sending a message that is so convincing
that people forward it to other people unknown to you. An excellent way to send
a message if you do it right.
Video: increasingly popular method of sharing ideas,
transmitting information and selling on the web. Ideal to sell more complex
products or services. YouTube is the most popular today, but the video is being
embedded in more digital media.
Music / Podcasts. Spotify is becoming the most popular legal
file sharing system, as it gives you access to a wide variety of music.
Podcasts are voice recordings on a particular topic. They can be downloaded to
listen on the computer or MP3 players at a later date. Ideal for relaxing or
learning about a new topic while traveling.
Chat / Instant messaging / Skype. Chat and instant messaging
are systems for conversations that use a keyboard that is performed in real
time. That is to say. One person writes something and the other answers. Both
must be present and online for this to work. Users of Facebook, Bebop, etc.
They use this, especially the younger generation. Skype is an Internet-based
video and telephone system that allows Skype users to call each other for free
or at low cost, is becoming increasingly popular for commercial use and will
grow now that the video version is available on Facebook.
Smartphone or mobile applications. The applications for
smartphones or mobiles (or software applications from which the term derives)
are small pieces of computer software that run on your phone and allow you to
do things you would normally do on a computer. The need to work anywhere, at
any time means that they will become increasingly popular among the business
systems that begin to appear in them. Excellent for anyone who works out of the
office, including executives, technicians and sales. Also watch a growing
number of consumers who use their mobile phones to make purchases online as
they spend their time waiting for something.
Cloud-based storage / file sharing. The cloud is, for most
purposes, another name for the Internet. Therefore, cloud-based storage is the
ability to store information on the Internet, including backups and sending
large files to customers and suppliers. Drop Box are example of systems for
sharing large files between unrelated users. Now there is a wide range of
remote backup systems providers with most of the companies that include them in
their backup strategies. The exchange of personal files is also available for
two or more computers to link together to share information, including music
and videos. The sharing of personal files is generally not a commercial tool
for large corporations.
Cloud-based systems. These are systems that allow you to
work anywhere. Google has Google Docs, Microsoft has Office 365. Many
third-party software providers are moving their systems to the cloud so that
customers can access them from anywhere and not have to worry about their own
IT infrastructure. Companies are moving their IT infrastructure to the cloud to
reduce costs, since the entire infrastructure is managed by a third party.
Extranets / Web-based systems. Companies are now looking to
give customers and suppliers access to their information (through Extranets)
and their systems (through web-based systems). This allows customers and
suppliers to access relevant information for them and allows them to perform
any DIY processing, saving time and money, such as the entry and progress of
orders and verification of stock levels.
Remote access. The ability to work anywhere means that
sometimes you need access to your computer at home or at work. Remote access
through websites like Team view and LogMeIn is an excellent way to get critical
documents away from the computer. Some of these systems allow you to
demonstrate online your product and service. This saves time and money for you
and your client.
Online games / Games. More and more gaming companies are
moving their operations to the web so that they can access their services
anywhere and at any time. Also keep in mind that most consumer applications
have technology or built-in game ideas to make shopping more fun. The term is
called gamification. This could be a challenge for parents as the line becomes
blurred between buying something and playing a game.
